Looking for Rayon!!!

Maridee | Posted in General Discussion on

I am desperately looking for a good source of rayon or rayon viscose fabric for garment construction.  My favorite is East Indian imported fabric, but would consider others that are of similar style.  HELP!

I don't know any source specifically good for rayon, but if you want Indian fabric and there is any significant size Indian/Pakistani population in your area I suggest looking in the Yellow Pages under Fabric to see if there are any Sari stores listed. Depending on what quantities you are buying you should be able to barter price.

Mariel, if you like printed rayon, check out the products of Batik Butik. They have wonderful rayon with very beautiful prints (usually a single color print on a contrast background), often Asian-inspired. I made some pants using a print with red on a black background, and despite numerous times through the washing machine and dryer, they are still black--in my book, that's great quality. And the fabric doesn't get pilly or weirdly stretchy or shrink, so it's a dream to sew on, too. I think their address is http://www.batikbutik.com; they don't sell retail online anymore, but you can locate a local dealer through this site.
