low vision

Monkey1961 | Posted in General Discussion on

I enjoy sewing, but am losing my good vision to macular degeneration.  Any hints or ideas that might help?

Really sorry to hear of your problems.

I can only suggest the obvious.

Lighting.........Also there are magnifying lamps with a headband.

                                  easy threading needles

                                  Photocopiers can enlarge instructions.

Try googling "sewing poor vision" for more help

Will message again if I think of any other ideas

    Best wishes

There is a magnifying glass that attaches to the sewing machine so you can really see what is hapening at the needle.  There are also self threading hand sewing nedles.  God Bless

    2 more suggestions..............

    Pins with coloured heads

Try using  a  thread slightly lighter/darker than fabric so it shows uo more easily
