    Hi MSM-S!

This is what I made - it's a (mostly) cotton jersey trimmed with metallic silk material.  I have a pattern for it from a German magazine called Sabrina.  The pattern is for the basic shell and wrap - I added the trim.  I saw the material as I was buying the jersey and I thought they might look nice together - the silk metallic also has a lot of red in it, too.

Did you make a special outfit for the holidays?

beautiful! great pairing of the 2 fabrics!
this year, nothing for myself. i used to every year, but no time (even though i have a fabric stash of fun fabric calling my name!)
got to finish knitting a harry potter scarf and sewing a corduroy bathrobe for my 5-yr old son. the bathrobe has a rounded tuxedo style collar with tiny piping.
just wanting to see what fun things everyone else might be making. it seems like those who can sew always push the limits to make new things at holiday time!

i just made a standard long knit winter scarf to wrap around his neck, but in Harry's house (dorm) colors. don't know if you are a fan or not, but harry potter's school of Hogwarts is divided into 4 'houses' that compete for points in academics, sports, and conduct. Harry is in the touse of Gryffindor (sp?), colors are burgundy and gold (ie, Slytherin's colors are green and silver, and so on). they sell Hogwarts school scarves and hats etc at nice bookstores; that's where i got the idea to knit one myself.

Thank you for explaining that!  Now I get it!  I think I've seen part of one HP movie and I'm beginning to feel like I need to read the books.  I hear they are not really just for kids!
