Maternity Dressmakers Dummy

Cammie | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

Hi all

I am new to the board and would to ask some advice.

I am looking for a maternity dressmakers dummy.  I would love one of those French Mannequinn ones but I can’t seem to find anything online.

Does anyone know of a company that makes them?

Many thanks.

CJ

Well, there is this company http://www.superiormodel.com The thought of a maternity dressmaker dummy seems a paradox since maternity is nine months of constantly changing shape. ??

Wouldn't it make more sense to use a regular mannequin and pad the abdomen to the correct size and shape?

I have a Royal form from Fabulous Fit that I use to fit my various clients with their set of shaped pads. I just checked their website at http://www.fabulousfit.com and discovered that they sell a maternity tummy pad. This may be the answer for you.

      Hi

      Thanks for your replies.

I have started a maternity wear design company and we require a sample size (UK12 or US8) maternity form to fit our designs.

We have so far had to rely on helpful pregnant friends to fit the samples, but ideally we would have a form with about a 6 -7 month size belly to do the job.

      Regards,

      CJ

Then I would absolutely check out Fabulous Fit, if you haven't already. They stock professional forms in a wide range of sizes. One of their forms with the maternity belly would be ideal for your purposes. I know of no other company that has anything like this.I notice that you mention a UK size....where are you located? If you are in the UK, the shipping costs of a mannequin from the states would likely be prohibitive. Just to Canada, mine cost $150 over and above the cost of the form.
