I am looking for instructions for mending a 1/2″ square hole in a pair of cashmere/wool slacks. I have an inconspicuous spot from which to take a patch but I want the patched place to be as invisible as possible. I seem to remember an article in Threads which showed a method of weaving in the individual threads from the patch…any suggestions will be appreciated.

I just tried Search for "reweaving",
'patch" and "fabric repair", but couldn't find the article that *I clearly remember seeing* lately, too! The author used colored threads to show exactly what they were describing... Others here have much better Google-foo than I, though - hope someone can help!
I've had some success using a fine crochet hook, btw...

Kenneth King had an article in number 144, Sept. 09,pg.62. The magazine has spools of thread on the cover.
That's the one I was thinking
