mtngirlNH | Posted in General Discussion on

Hi all.I am a beginning machine sewer, but enjoying myself.I was given a tiny Simplicity Sew Precious for Christmas.I have enjoyed reading sewing mags, books etc. for a long time, and have always done a lot of hand embellishment stuff.I want to get a better machine when I can afford it,but meanwhile this little machine is fun to practice on.I have already made two Kwik-Sew learn to sew pattern skirts.Just wanted to say hi.

    Minnow,

Welcome to the forum!  You won't get many responses on the weekends--it has been my experience that most people are active here during the week... There are also a lot of people who just enjoy reading the postings, without entering into the conversations.  So, don't take silence as judgment.  This is a friendly group of people!

Minnow, good for you for starting with the Kwik Sew patterns--they are among the best for providing clear, easy-to-follow instructions that yield good results, and they also tend to follow ready-to-wear trends fairly closely. Keep at it, and don't hesitate to come back with any questions you have.

    Hello Minnow:

Just getting started is an exciting place to be!  You will love all the friendly help that is available already on the site, and everyone is very willing to share ideas and remedies for any situation.

One of the members of this site has (and wouldn't you know it, I can't find one of her postings now) a by-line that says it all about sewing.  I chuckle every time because it would have helped along my way - it is something like  - There are no mistakes in sewing, only opportunities for creativity.

Good luck and keep coming back!

    Frances
