Hi, Have just joined the group. Have not belonged to a discussion group before so it will be a new experience. I am writing this from Melbourne, Australia on a cold and wet day I am looking forward to finding out what is going on in the sewing world as it is hard to keep up to date here as sewing appears to be a dying art.

I am in the US, East Coast, but noticed there is a "thread" of messages here in the General Discussion titled "Melbourne Sewers/Dressmakers" with a few different people posting to it. Since none of them were you, I thought I'd point it out.
Sewing seems to be dying here too, many of our fabric stores from the 70's and 80's are long gone, but with the internet, there is always someone around somewhere who can help, answer a question, or just listen.

Thanks Betsy, I have found the site you mentioned and will check it out.

Hi BetsyV,
Please give me a little more information on the "Melbourne Sewers/Dressmakers"
discussion. I am having difficulty locating it. Many thanks and happy sewing.

If you do an Advanced Search (upper left area) for the word Melbourne, choose the General Discussion forum, about 8 messages will show up as relevant. It's the one posted by Margy, I think.
If you leave open all forums (fora?), many more messages will appear that have the word Melbourne in it.
Hope you find them! The original message was posted early last April, if that helps.

Thanks...it is always good to learn new tricks...especially with help
from new friends......
