Hi…obviously, a USA Network “Monk” fan, and a sewer forever…started when I was 11 making my own clothes….My kids remember my sewing all their clothing, including some ski wear during their teen years….oh, to have THAT patience again.

Some of my time is spent looking at old Threads magazines and recently came upon an article in #76, an Issey Miyake shirt.  I am so tickled with how it turned out–made three so far, with Indian cottons that I picked up at Wal*Mart for a buck a yard on their close-out shelf !  (I usually buy cheap but washable, etc., fabric to make a trial instead of muslin, because if it does turn out good, I can wear it !! The directions were good, although without neckline help, but after thousands of years sewing, I was OK.  Don’t you just LOVE the magazine?

Welcome to Gatherings. I started subscribing to Threads at about issue #98, so I didn't read the Miyake article. I wish I could get my hands on some of those old issues. I'm tempted by the new searchable Threads DVD which includes some out-of-print articles from those old issues. It's great to read an article and be able to apply it with success. Congratulations, and thank you for sharing your experience with that article. I hope you'll continue to share with us what you've learned in those "thousand years".

I'm a Monk fan, too, but a frustrated one. The show was broadcast on ABC a couple of seasons, and I fell in love with it, but it is no longer broadcast except on cable. Loved it, and miss it.

I am a Miyake fan too. Although I do not have any of the older Threads mags I would love to see the pattern that you copied from.

Welcome aboard!  We're a really nice, generous group - you'll wish you'd found these threads ages ago!

I saved that Miyake article & intend to make the shirt, but haven't found the right fabric yet - always on the lookout, though.

    Gloria
