Old sewing machine.

faruk1 | Posted in General Discussion on
I found a older Kenmore sewing machine for pretty cheap. Is Kenmore known as a good or bad brand of sewing machines? I don’t want to get one that is known for problems.

    Kenmore Machines

Kenmores were made by many manufacturers over many years. They have fierce defenders and their own yahoo group; check it out. I have a bunch of old Singers, but I have one Kenmore, my only free arm machine, that someone gave me. When I had it gone over at an independent shop, they told me it was a very good all metal machine.  Seems to be fine; need to use it more!

    More on Kenmores

And while Sears no longer sells Kenmore sewing machines, and their parts supply is sketchy, they have very good schematic drawings of the sewing machines on their web site.

    Old sewing machine.

It is a brand that had it's heyday.  Sears products were always better than their counterparts.

You will need to look for the model number before Kenmore lovers can tell you if it is a keeper, or not.

Get the model number and then join the Kenmore Yahoo! Group.
