Something happened to your message.....it disappeared.....or maybe it's my computer.  It sounded like an interesting topic.    rjf

I had the same reaction, even restarted the message page to make sure my computer wasn't playing games with me.

Oh well, who needs another hobby?!  :)

You're right about not needing another hobby!  But I get so compulsive about knowing what's going on, thread-wise, that I know I'll wake up in the middle of the night inventing Portguese rug making if the person who wrote doesn't give us a clue...or two.  I have so many stashes of so much stuff that I can usually find whatever I need to start something new.  Or maybe I'm looking for something that will use it all up, every bit of it.           rjf

Come on now, is THAT likely to ever happen????

No, but it keeps my mind occupied when I'm not actually doing something.  I was going to be virtuous once and knit a fair isle sweater with all my left-overs and not fuss about patterns and colors but the first 4 inches looked so terrific that I ordered 6 more skeins to make it "right".  It's still my favorite sweater even if I couldn't be virtuous.       rjf

If you use it all up then you lose the game.  I myself am on the fast track to winning.

What is the prize?  If it's good, I'll make more of an effort.  I do think we should be congratulated for turning this non-topic into something interesting.  We haven't talked about stashes in quite awhile.  I still think of the woman who used her spare bathtub for storage and closed the shower curtain.  Makes me smile.    rjf

Well let's decide what the prize should be huh?  I still get a chuckle about the lady I over heard in fabric store saying how her husband was going to get mad because she was getting more fabric and they were in the middle of a major move.  I leaned over to her and in a very quiet voice mentioned that the last time I move I had my husband use my fabrics for packing "material" for some of our finer things that needed a little more cushion but not the china.  At some point he had used up all of the material and asked me if I was going to the fabric store anytime soon.  LOL.  She left with a smile and a gleam in her eye and lots of fabrics.  And no I did not work on commission at that fabric store.

Fun little topic, so I think I will Google up some Portuguese rugs. In the meantime, the packing material idea is perfect! Since I'm not planning to move anytime soon but do want to rearrange some things which will require putting them in boxes, it is an excellent reason to seek out remnants that serve the immediate purpose but "must" be kept around, just in case an idea strikes :) I have a remnant rule: if I love it and can afford it I buy it and WILL find a use for it, some day.
