I was totally sick of looking at my tax stuff for this year and decided to take a break and enjoy myself at Gatherings. I came across this info/discussion on ironing board covers.
I knew about the layers of wool and cotton, but never knew the right way to stack it all. I’ll have to remodel mine now.
Do you know who authored that board article in Threads? Was there any other info in that article about pressing and pressing equipment?
Thanks

Lindamaries,
THe info the pressing board cover was in the tips column, and was sent in by Zulema Ante. For more details on pressing equipment, look in the latest issue of Threads--there's a whole article on steam generating systems that's really informative.

I thought there was going to be a pressing article coming. Sorry to bother you. I've been so busy with tax stuff, I don't have time to do very much of what I like to do
and that included reading Threads!!!!!
I've contacted my favorite dry cleaner supply place for some 5/8 inch thick knitted cotton padding and all they have is a piece that is
48 inches by 16 inches. They said that it was for a Cissell board.
What is a Cissell board????????
I was going to make a better pressing board on a piece of plywood.
The one I have now is about 30 inches wide by about 36 inches long.
I have the wool already on there and use muslin for the top. I put between just a cotton bat for a quilt. This is a little hard to push pins into when I'm laying out the fabric.
Does anyone know where I can get a big piece of this knitted cotton padding?

hOLY mAN!! That's what a cissell board is!?!? It looks like a vacuum pressing system of sorts.
Did you get the picture out of a catalog? Do they sell bigger
knitted cotton pads, do you know?
I googled on Cissell board. http://www.google.com
I yahooed on cotton pad!!!

While reading through at 2:05 a.m., your sense of humour made me chuckle out loud. Thanks.
