pricelist for alteration services?

Hi all, Gee this looks like fun! I need some help/input on updated prices to charge for my alteration services. I do lots of little things like hems, zippers, nips & tucks, and then there are the big projects such as wedding parties and so on. Thanks, kriss

I would check around your area to find the going rate for these services and then decide if you can raise your rates and maintain your clients. Every area of the country has different going rates and if you have lots of competition then you will need to deal with that as well. Good luck.
I also do alterations, I was also trying to figure out what I should charge. I have been told that I am not charging enough. I also sew for wedding parties. No one in my area does alterations anymore.
There are a couple of really helpful books out there to help with pricing and getting organized when doing estimates and consults with clients. This one was very helpful to me when I started my home dec sewing business:
Pricing Without Fear
by Barbara Wright Sykes isbn 0963285769
Barbara Sykes has several books out along this same subject line. Also check here:

collins publications books and cd's of very helpful forms that you can alter to suit your own needs for those who sew for profit in both fashion and home dec. I bought the home decor - interior designs forms cd to use and it's got a lot of terrific forms and info on it that help you break down each project to price it easily. I'm not doing home dec sewing anymore so if anybody out there is interested in buying this cd I'll be happy to sell it for a best offer. I paid the list price from collins pub for it which was $49. It's really easy to alter the forms and drop in your own logo's and stuff.
good luck to you all - I hope this info helps!
