Queen Maud’s Wardrobe

Elisabeth | Posted in General Discussion on

Queen Maud had some lovely clothes in her closet! The Victoria and Albert museum in the UK has the collection this year and there is a nice preview here http://www.vam.ac.uk/vastatic/microsites/1333_styleandsplendour/

There are some tempting events with this exhibit including a demo of bias dress draping of the 30’s. Field trip!

Oh, I would so love to see this exhibit! Especially the purple dress in the 7th slide of her wardrobe... The description says: >>Intricate pin-tucking in the shape of leaves decorates the bodice and upper sleeves. << Now someone needs to go to the exhibit, figure out how that pin-tucking is done, and write an article for Threads on it. Maybe Carol could contact this Susan North who is going to do the gallery talks and ask her to write an article????

I love the red coat . That would be an interesting garment to make a pattern for dont you think?
