I have been looking in stores and online for separating reversible zippers and, although I consider myself fairly adept at online searching – I have come up with nothing. Has anyone out there found a place where one can buy separating reversible zippers such as might be used for a reversible jacket or vest?

Hi May:
A reversible zipper is basically just a different slider on the same zipper. It might be easier to see if the zipper supplier sells compliant reversible sliders seperately, and just replace the regular slider with the reversible one.
It's a little harder to do this with different supplies from different companies as there are some variances between manufacturers' products. For example, 5 is pretty much the standard size for a jacket-weight zipper (you'll see a 5 stamped somewhere on the back of the slider and it will fit the size 5 zipper tape). If it's made by YKK (one of the largest manufacturers), it will read '5VS'; if made by Dulon, the slider is stamped 'T5' and so on. Although each of the sliders is designed to zip up a size 5 zipper tape, there is no guarantee that a YKK 5VS slider will zip up a Dulon tape and vice versa - because the manufacturers all have slight variances in the way they create their zippers (shape of teeth, exact spacing, etc.).
I'm not sure of the amount (or colour) of zippers you were planning to purchase, but usually the reversible sliders are available in black in quantity.
