serged edges with rayon thread

Martha_Lewis | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

how will a serged edge hold up on a heavy wool jacket? I’m considering using that nice shiny rayon thread. It looks really nice on my sample, but I’m concerned about the wear and tear on the edges. Does anyone have any feedback?

Thanks, Martha

Well, it certainly won't last as long as your wool....

In my experience, rayon thread is relatively delicate.

*How about pearl cotton? It is thicker but has a nice sheen. If your thread gets yucky looking I suppose you could always go back and just put binding right over it. so it's not like if the thread doesn't last it'll be a lost cause.
