sewing machines best for heirloom sewing

conerybb | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

What’s the best machine, in your opinion, to do heirloom sewing, sewing on batiste and also sewing on really good 100% cotton for little girls’ dresses?  I’d like a machine with embroidery features.  I do not quilt, so I don’t need a quilting machine.  Advice very much appreciated.

Check out the Martha Pullen tv show on pbs and her website, http://www.marth apullen.com  She has beautiful baby designs and patterns and even clothing ready to embellish.  It is perfect for you.  I thin k the Viking machines are best for heirloom work but you should test drive a variety of machines to see what is best for you.  Mary

Mary, yesterday and today I test drove a lot of sewing / embroidery machines.  The Babylock, several Vikings (I thought they were not very user friendly, although they were on sale for 30% off!), a Bernina, which I really liked it's an Artista 180 (it was top of the line about 5 years ago), a Brother and a Janome, both I liked.  I will read up a little more and see which one fits my needs and budget.  Thanks,

Glad you are test driving!  Everyone has thier personal preferences!  It really is important to find one that fits you and your needs.  Mary
