A long time ago I read about washing silk. It said that the silk (a specific kind which I can’t remember) had a definite smell after washing. It had something to do with the “glue” in the cocoon when the thread was spun. I can’t remember the source of the information so I can’t check it out. Now I have silk I bought on Ebay and when I washed it there is a definite strong odor. Anybody know how to get rid of the smell and the source for more information? Thanks

Is it wild silk or Tussah? I posted washing instructions for silk under the history lessons. You can rinse with 1/4 c vinegar, then clear rinse again. Cathy
