Speedo/TVR weight swim fabric

Ddelliott | Posted in Fabric Guidance on

I’ve combed swim fabric websites. None seem to make the speedo quality swim fabric I need? Any ideas of a source and estimated GSM for such a fabric?

For my racerback suits, so far found that Caye Compression polyester swim fabric from Mood has held up in chlorinated water for longer than any nylon swimwear fabric. All the nylon swimwear fabric I tried (count ‘em 4 suits) faded and stretched out within a month of daily swims. The Caye fabric did not fade and even tho it lost some elasticity within several months, it didn’t completely stretch out, so I am still able to use the suit. I figure I will get about 6 months of daily lap swimming out of it. My trick? Always make two at once alternating the color pieces so you can use the same thread and whip up both at once. Then you have 1 year of suits.
