Steam Press

Pearl5 | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

Good morning all!  I am interested in purchasing a steam press to use for all aspects of garment construction as well as general household ironing.  Can anyone recommend a particular brand or give me some ideas of what features are good, not so good, etc?

Thanks.

    Hi,

I assume that steam press refers to the large flat steam presses similar to what dry cleaners use.  I've never used one but have seen positive comments about using them for large items.  I would guess that one would still need a steam iron for small pieces and curves during garment construction.

If you're interested in a good steam iron, read many of the readers on this website and you'll see that newer Rowentas are not recommended.

If you're interested in a steam generator iron, I don't recommend the Rowenta steam generators - see my comments in the postings.   I'm waiting for delivery of a Reliable steam generator iron.  Several readers recommended this brand.

Visit reliablecorporation.com for information on steam generator irons and iron presses. I've also read a lot of postings recommending gravity feed irons.  My personal preference is for the pressurized steam.

    Good luck!

I'm not at all versed in this matter, however in my recent search for a serger, I noted that Husky has a steam iron....but like I said, I know nothing about them......If someone could tell me a little more about them, It would be nice......I don't know if it would be an asset to me in the line of business I am trying to get into, but it would be nice to know one way or the other...
