Succes re Rollable Cart

LJM55 | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

Last Friday I decided to head out and find a  rollable cart to organize my sewing notions, supplies etc. Ikea had open metal baskets with optional open-topped fabric liners. Not quite what I had envisioned. I had already checked on eBay, and for once couldn’t find anything remotely close to what I wanted. Passing by a Canadian Tire I ducked in on spec, and lo and behold there it was! A rollable, 5 drawer (2 shallow, 3 deep) plastic see-through organizer cart on SALE for half price, under $22 Cdn., tax included. It was the last day of the sale. So, I grabbed one, brought it home, washed it up (which it did not need…but I’m fussy when it comes to my sewing stuff) and started to fill the unit. Now I can easily find things that used to be tucked  here and there throughout my house. (No, I don’t have a dedicated sewing area yet.) I just thought I would share my success story with all of you. In my circle of friends no one sews…so I’m kinda on my own.

That sounds just brilliant. The IKEA one might not have protected your supplies from dust and such. The clear plastic one is just the ticket. It keeps everything clean AND you can see what is where. A sewer's success!

    Happy sewing!

Be warned! This could be the start of something big!  A few months ago I bought 2 rollable carts to start getting my sewing materials organised, planning to store them under the sewing table. I discovered they fit neatly into the depth of the built-in wardrobe in my sewing room, I removed the wheels and the top (all click-in), mine are stacked several units high and 3 units wide in the wardrobe(shelves and rails removed). I'm even getting as far as putting labels on the drawers, but as they are see-through I can still see what's inside.   Now for all those other plastic crates on the floor..... I think I'll have to get back to the sewing to get rid of some of the fabrics in them!!

I'm new here, great discussions! but I should get back to the sorting....

I use transluscent rolling carts, too, for my sewing supplies. Buying them was the best thing I did to organize because you can see into them without opening the drawers. No more trying to remember what drawer something is in. At a glance, I know right where everything is.
