where can you sell sewing books online?

Jeanette | Posted in General Discussion on

Dear wonderful sewers

I have a book on shirts and men’s haberdashery from 1840s to the 1920s that I would like to sell online.  Does anyone know where I can do this?  By the way I live outside North America.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Jeanette:  Do you have ebay where you live?  If yes, that is certainly one choice.  I will be interested in other's suggestions for other sites, as that then opens them up to me for buying books.  Good Luck Scrubble4

PS Where in the world do you live?

You can sell them through Amazon & they give you all the instructions you may ever need.  When you co onto Amazon, there is a "Sell" button - just click onto that & go from there.  I had planned to do that with all my quilting  & sewing books (I absolutely must downsize), but don't have the time now that I'm moving at the end of next month.  So I'll just have to give them to the library or charities for their book sales (or find a second-hand book dealer who will buy them by the boxful).  There are used book sellers in your Yellow Pages who are interested in antique books, which yours qualifies.  Also check out the "Wanted" section in your classified ads in your newspapers - they usually advertise there.  Good luck!

Amazon chews up most of the cash you are likely to make. I have been buying and selling books for some years and ebay seems the best bet. All other sites require you to sell volumes not an occasional book/s

You can also try Abe Books (http://www.abebooks.co.uk) or Play.com.   They allow secondary sellers, too.

Abebook sellers cannot be individuals who want to sell an occasional book

I "google" used books and many sites will appear. Powells books, Hamilton books, Alibris books, all buy used books. They usually have a great selection of used sewing books to purchase, too.

I believe members of patternreview.com are able to list sewing items for sale. Not sure, but you might want to check out that site to see.
