Why do women pull up their pants legs before sitting down?

Stephaniemartins26 | Posted in General Discussion on

I am a 20 some year old who has noticed that when some women sit down, they tend to pull up their pants near the thigh area by the crotch just before sitting down.  Sometimes they tug just a few inches.  Othertimes they pull their pants legs up about 6-8″ to the middle of their calf.  I am wondering why they do this and should I be doing this too.  I don’t see any women my age doing this at all.

Does this prevent the pants from riding up your leg too much when you sit?

I have seen this done with jeans, capris, ankle pants and dress pants.

Never heard of professional sitting process.  You should not have to adjust your clothing to sit, stand or walk. However,  men tuck up their pant legs above the knee as they prepare to sit as this will help prevent the pant leg bagging at the knee.  This is proper.
