wonderful reading

mem1 | Posted in General Discussion on

I am about to have a birthday so Ibought myself a present . It is the best book on fashion etc that I have ever read!!!

It contains the most marvellous photos of the Kyoto Fashion Institute collection and is published by Taschen.I really recommend it as a great source of inspiration and very interesting in its discussion and commentary on why fashion was as it was .

Its full tital is “FASHION A history from the 18th to the 20th century.

This book is on my "I want it" list. Glad to hear that you are enjoying it and can't wait to get myself a copy!

May I ask where you purchased this book? I have tried Amazon but cannot find it. Thank you.

I happened to see this book in real life at Saks. I had to stop my snoop shopping and check it out, amazing photographs and tons of them. I have also seen it available here http://www.hedgehoghandworks.com/index.shtml The book is on my lustlist too.

Elisabeth I love the hedgehog site I already bookmarked it on my webpage.  Now about the book that you are lusting after if I am not mistaken that book is available at the Williams and Mary Bookstore next to Historic Williamsburg.  I saw it in the window of the store but did not have enough time to really peruse the aisles or ask anyone for it. I did notice from your profile that you are in Virginia so how far are you from Williamsburg?

I am in Scottsville, quite a ways from Williamsburg, 70 miles northwest of Richmond. I sometimes go to the Saks in Richmond when I visit my daughter who is in nursing school there.

This time around in my second sewing phase in life I am starting to really enjoy studying period clothing. I am happy that there are more books devoted to the subject these days. It is nice to know that I have good company in oohing and aahhhing over clothing of long ago.

The bookstore at Williamsburg is a Barnes and Noble. If they have a copy there you can get it other B&N stores ,B Dalton or Barnsandnoble.com . I have found that company to be quite nice to work with.

Good idea. I am going to Charlottesville today and I was actually planning to stop by the B&N there if I had time. I'll see if they have it. Thanks!
