I made this dress because of an article and picture in threads magazine.  I found the pattern and then found a beautiful teal brocade.  The teal changes to burgandy in some pictures.  I wanted to emphasize the criss-cross design on front so decided to put in piping also.  I have sewn all my life but piping tends to be challenging for me so I hand stitched it in place before sewing the seams.  I also wanted to be able to wear a regular bra so I added a wider strap to the right side.  The most difficult part of construction for me was the invisible zipper, because of the piping.  It was very bulky. The top is lined with the same color as the piping.  I plan on making another one in cotton, strapless,  but will use very soft piping for that. It actually was not hard to make, the pattern is simple but I received so many compliments when I wore it.
