I just started sewing in January 2014 when I began a Fashion Design course at my high school. This dress is only the second garment I have constructed. My teacher gave us specific criteria for the project, and I like a challenge. I saw this pattern and loved the look of the floral fabric. So I found the colorful print and set to work. The dress has darts, pleats, a zipper, collar, pockets and finished armholes. My teacher taught me how to do French Seams, so that is how the bodice was done. I am very happy with how it turned out. I am a bit of a perfectionist and this project took me about 2-3 weeks-only working on it about 40 minutes a day during the school hours. I did have to do a little altering and add an extension in the bodice-and the fit is great. I think this dress represents “SPRING” in all ways.
