I’ve loved constructing this dress. The zipper is a dream and I created my own technique with the stick on ruler tape. This let me measure exactly 1/4 inch from the edge and each stitch is 1/4 inch apart…lovely symmetry. Soon, the lining will be inserted. Thinking about making a belt as I really have decided I am not a fan of the pleated, loose front.

I love this! So far it looks good--does it look different on you than on the mannequin?
I made this pattern too, but in a black and white silk/wool with diagonal stripes...of a drapey fabric (gorgeous fabric!). It was not a flattering dress (on me), but I think you are right--a belt might be a fix. I also think the linen is a better choice than my somewhat drape-y fabric.
Somehow I never seem to learn that when the real life pattern picture is a model holding something in front of herself, or in an awkward pose, it's not a good sign.

It looks very much the same on me, including the "kangaroo pouch" front. It's not really that obvious; but, I don't think it enhances the pattern. I tried reworking the front, but have decided to go with the belt. It's still pretty slick!
