Summer is the time for vacations, going to the beach, and fabulous fashion! Check out these new McCall’s Summer 2014 patterns to spruce up your wardrobe for the summer.
THE PERFECT PARTY DRESS
McCall’s pattern M6956 includes four variations of a pleated dress that would be perfect to wear to a party or picnic!
Each of the dresses have boning, are close-fitting, include a self-lined bra, princess seams, pleated skirt variations, and a back zipper. View A has buttons on the front bodice and purchased trim around the hem; view B is cut on the crosswise grain, and view C includes hand tacking to form the hem drape and a self belt. Views A, C, and D have shoulder strap variations and a narrow hem. Separate pattern pieces are included for cup sizes A/B, C, and D.
These patterns are designed for medium weight woven fabrics including cotton blends, polished cotton, broadcloth, or gingham. Notions needed for views A, B, C, and D are one 14-inch zipper, 1 1/4 yards of 1/4-inch covered boning, and a hook and eye. Extra notions needed for view A include three 3/8- to 1/2-inch buttons and 3 1/2 yards of lace trim.
SWEET SUMMER TOP
This ruffled, mock-wrap, belted tunic from McCall’s pattern M6961 is light weight and great for a breezy summer day.
The three views include mock wrap tops and tunics that have a bias upper front, are close-fitting, have lined upper bodice sections, gathered lower section variations, a side zipper, and a narrow hem. View A includes shoulder straps, while views A and B include a belt, and view C includes an elasticized lower sleeve edge. Views B, C, and D have an elasticized upper sleeve edge .
All three views are designed for light to medium weight woven fabrics such as cotton blends, georgette, crepe de chine, or handkerchief linen. Notions needed for all views include one 12-inch zipper. For views B, C, and D, 3/4 yards of 1/4-inch-wide elastic is needed, and for views B and D, 1 1/2 yards of 1/4-inch elastic is required.
ROCK THAT ROMPER
McCall’s pattern M6969 wants you to beat the heat in this cool, summer romper.
This pattern includes four different views for rompers and jumpsuits that have front button closures. Views A and B have semi-fitted shoulder straps; view B has a tapered, elasticized lower hem edge; and views C and D include a loose-fitting collar. Views A, C, and D are wide-legged, and purchased bias tape is needed for the elasticized waist casing in views B and C, and for the armholes in views C and D.
These garments are designed for medium-weight woven fabrics such as challis, linen, crepe de chine, or chambray. Notions needed for all views are four 5/8-inch buttons. Views B and C require one package of 7/8-inch single-fold bias tape. For view B in sizes XS-M, 2 3/4 yards of 1/2-inch-wide elastic is needed and 3 1/4 yards for sizes L-XXL. For view C in all sizes, 1 1/4 yards of 1/2-inch-wide elastic is required.
CREATE A WHOLE WARDROBE
With McCall’s pattern M6971, you can make yourself a whole new wardrobe with the four different views found in this pattern: a top, tunic, dress, and pants.
These garments include a pullover top, tunic, and dress that have the front and back extending into sleeves and a narrow hem. View A, the top, is very loose-fitting with a bias neck binding, yoke back that extends into the sleeves, back pleats, and attached tie ends. View B, the tunic, has a shaped hemline and side slits. View C has shoulder slits, and views B and C are loose fitting. Views D and E are semi-fitted and straight-legged pants/shorts with an elastic waist and stitched hems.
All of the garments included in this pattern are designed for lightweight woven fabrics such as cottons blends, linen, challis, or chambray. Notions needed for views D and E are 1 3/4 yards of 3/4-inch-wide elastic.
A SIMPLE SUMMER OUTING
With McCall’s pattern M6970, you can make a simple, easy-to-make outfit for a day of shopping, visiting friends, or for a stroll along the beach.
The pattern include a loose-fitting shirt with stitched hems; a fitted, pullover top; loose-fitting, tapered pants; and a skirt with an elastic waist. Views A, B, and E include side hem slits and views C, D, and E have a narrow hem and side pockets.
All views are designed for lightweight woven fabrics including cotton blends, linen, challis, or chambray. Notions needed are four 3/4-inch buttons for views A and 1 3/4 yards of 3/4-inch-wide elastic for views C, D, and E.
