I need to make another ginormous bag to replace the one I've worn out. It has to be big enough to hold my regular prude, lunch bag, and sports bottle. The one I made 4 yrs ago is fraying on ghe handles, and isn't really the right size/shape for what I need. It was the first bag I've ever made (I naively thought it can't be all that hard) and I need some pointers in how to make a sturdier bag.

  60. katie | | #60

I want to make a bag for a friend who loves all kinds of bags and purses. I want to use some of my handpainted fabrics in a quilted part of the bag.

My neighbor is has been going through IVF and is finally pregnant after trying for almost 10 years. Her and her husband are so excited. I would love to make a beautiful diaper bag along with an assortment of other baby boy items to go into the new nursery. I would think a nice tote bag pattern could be easily modified to make a handy diaper bag. My other neighbor who has four beautiful children can give me hints as to what is handy to have in the diaper bag because when I was a new mother we didn't have a lot of these new items, for example the cell phone. If I have time, I would add a quilt and bumper pad to the mix.

I'm in the process of getting out of my car--forever--and I find that I could use various kinds of bags for various different purposes. I'm interested in coming up with some sort of system that can be folded and expanded, and am eager to have some sources for attractive ideas. Plus, I'm teaching someone to sew, and bags or placemats are great starter projects.

I keep my crafts in various totes and bags. I really need some organizer bags for my sewing fabric, notions, tools, etc. Also I want to make some organizer totes and some backpacks for my daughter, her EMT co-workers and her friends. EMTs seem to carry a lot stuff to work. The books would be a great help.

Second, I want to make a small backpack for shopping so the weight is not all on one shoulder.

  92. mdrgault | | #92

What is it with bags? I have become obsessed with them - any shape, any size, for a multitude of uses! I have designed my own foldable shopping bag that fits into a pocket or purse, so I'm always ready for bargains, totes, shoe bags, purses, knitting bags - the list is endless. With the instructions in the books, I should be entertained endlessly as I sew myself through each and every one.
