This unlined sheath has a pegged hemline and ends just below the knee. The scoop neckline dips to a V in back. The front has armscye princess seams that finish as waist darts. Side bodice pieces end in diagonal seams between the waist darts and the side seams. The back has waist darts and a centered zipper. Go sleeveless, or choose bracelet-length sleeves. Sleeve and hemline bands may be made with a sheer textile. Accompanying this dress is a semirectangular poncho. It falls to a point at center back, and has an oval neckline opening with a 6-inch, center-front slit. Marfy patterns come without illustrations, instructions, or seam or hem allowances, yet an advanced beginner could undertake this design with success. Select drapey fabrics with body, such as four-ply silk, silk or wool crepe, or ponte knit.
(Sized European 42-54 for busts 34.5-44 in. and hips 34.5-45.5 in.)
Sewing Tip: Underline this close-fitting dress to stabilize the seams and alleviate
stress on the fashion fabric.
