Pattern Review: Marfy 3396 Blouse

Threads #180, Aug./Sept. 2015

Style Tip: Consider contrasting princess-seam side panels to visually slim the figure.

Marfy 3396

This hip-length sleeveless jewel-neck blouse is versatile and classic. It has a loose fit, low-cut geometric-shaped armscyes, and an angled split peplum at the front with inset pocket flaps on either side. There are several seams useful for fine-tuning the fit, including the front and back princess seams, side seams, and center-back seam. This company sells its patterns in specific precut sizes. No instructions, seam, or hem allowances are included. In addition, an image of the design is available only online or in the pattern catalog. However, our tester found this pattern easy to sew. All seamlines and notches align, and the letters on the pattern pieces referencing construction match points are accurate and helpful. Use linen for a summer-weight blouse and wool crepe for a winter version.

(Sized European 42 and 46 for busts 34.5 in. and 38 in., respectively)

Style Tip: Consider contrasting princess-seam side panels to visually slim the figure.
