Style Tip: Shorten this design to tunic length and wear it casually with leggings and boots.
This review was originally featured in Threads #190 (April/May 2017).
This above-knee-length shift dress has a center-front neckline slit, a neck sash that ties into a bow, a semifitted bodice with an empire waist, bust darts, three-quarter-length sleeves with a slightly gathered sleeve cap and a contrast band at the sleeve hemline. The slightly A-line skirt is lined. The design is drafted to fit women from 5 foot 6 inches tall to 5 foot 9 inches tall, but our tester’s muslin appeared to be shorter than the garment on the pattern cover. Check the length before cutting, and adjust as desired. Choose lightweight, soft, flowing fabrics, as the necktie could look bulky and cumbersome in heavier fabrics. Excellent fiber choices include linen, cotton, rayon, silk, or blends. Good fabric selections include crepe, charmeuse, georgette, or chiffon. The design is ideal for color blocking, with its separate neckband, skirt, and cuff portions.
(Sized 2-16 for busts 33-44.5 in. and hips 35-46.5 in.)
Style Tip: Shorten this design to tunic length and wear it casually with leggings and boots.
