I recently purchased a Double Fold Bias Binder attachment to use on my serger and sewing machine. I tried to attach knit binding with it to an identical piece of knit fabric. It is a bias binder attachment that attaches a 1 1/2 inch bouble fold binding. The binding bunched up part of the time. Any suggestions on how to get it to go on smoothly. I was trying to attach it to make a swaddling blanket. Instead of cutting the knit on the bias I cut it where the least stretchy was the lengthwise strip.

I always cut with the stretchiest part as the lengthwise but haven't tried to apply a knit binding with a bias binder. The two step method is to stitch down one side RS together, then fold over, and stitch in the ditch. If the binding is going to show on both sides, serge the raw edge first, or finish it with a decorative edging.
I suspect that if you're trying to put four layers of knit through the double fold binder it's just too thick or too slick.
Because of the thickness, the knit might be catching in the feed dogs. You may have to try paper between the fabric & the feed dogs.
