duct tape pants form

Rou | Posted in Fitting on

I just read in Threads Magazine about a duct tape dress form. I made one a few years ago and plan on making another one with my friend. Our bodies change (not always for the better). My question is: Can you do a form for pants and if so, what are some of the differences?

What a good question!  I have wondered about this also.  How accurate would it be because the duct taping can "stick out" in places.  The ideal would be a plaster cast, but how many can afford that?

Search patternreview.com.  A few years ago, a poster made one for making pants with red duct tape.  Her form was from her waist to mid thigh and it worked!

Thanks for the info. I do not belong to pattern review but I am going to try to make one - after the holidays. I will try to post a picture even if its not perfect.

Especially for a pants form, you will need a helper!  Otherwise, we'll worry about your becoming trapped for hours and then being embarrassed when the emergency crews come to free you.  Can't wait to see your photos and become inspired to make my own form...

Please do post!  I'd be interested in seeing your work!
