   Even 5 inches doesn't sound like enough to me for a jacket. What do you mean by 3 in 1? Does it turn into a vest?

   there is an outer gore tex jacket with an inner fleece jacket that zips to the outer one   sort of like an all weather coat with a zip out liner

   this is for skiing so waas not sure of amount of ease  he is very thin but an active skier  

   thanks for the reply  i am sure i need more than 3-4 inches ease
