fusibles for polyester shantung?

bss7 | Posted in General Discussion on

I am trying to interface a polyester shantung, and the fusible pellon just buckles and looks horrible after you fuse it on.   Can anyone tell me of a better choice for a fusible for polyester shantung?

How about a fusible nylon knit such as FusiKnit? That would be my choice depending on the application, however. How are you specifically going to use this? It sounds like your interfacing either #1- is too heavy for the face fabric and/or #2- the interfacing is not preshrunk.

It was probably too heavy, but how can you preshrink pellon.  Do I need to preshrink the fusiknit?

You can soak the fusibles in hot water for 20 min then drip dry or you can cut interfacing by pattern, then at fusing time after placing fusible in place, spritz the fusible, cover with pressing cloth and hold your steam iron really close over fusible and hit it with a lot of steam--you can see the fusible shrink!  I also preshrink all my fabrics.  Fuse according to the manufacturer's directions USING A CLOCK.  All your fusible troubles should vanish.
