The ‘which sewing machine’ thread seems to have diversified a bit, so here’s a new question. Does anyone have a ToyotaFSS21 machine? My student daughter could buy one from a magazine offer but I’m not sure whether it would be a good purchase for her. I’m a Bernina user but that would be out of her league at the minute. Any comments?

Hi I was just wondering doesn't Bernina make a machine without all of the bells and whistles that come with the more advanced models? I ask because sometimes it's better to get a good machine because, lets say your daughter decides to really get into sewing whether as a business or as a serious crafter (quilting, clothing for artisan dolls ect.) that machine can be used as a general sewer and other machines can be purchased as the interest grows. I purchased my Bernina Artista from Ebay, Toyota may make good cars but I am concerned about the sewing machine issue, also Babylock makes excellent beginner machines. Just a thought good luck as I said before I am so glad to hear that young women are going back to sewing it is a great outlet for creativity. keep me posted. Cyndy
If money is the issue and your daughter is looking for a serviceable machine at a lower cost, she might go to a sewing machine dealer who accepts "Trade-ins". Those "Trade=in" machine usually will be fully tuned up and adjusted, sometimes just a little more basic machine. Gail
