Knit Conversion

Brooke | Posted in General Discussion on

Hi — I am FOREVER attracted by patterns for knits, but always sew wovens. Does anyone have some tips for converting patterns for knits to patterns for wovens? At the moment I have a pattern for a simple jacket (Chanel-ish). Thanks!

    Hello Brooke,

You'll find some information about this (or about the reverse conversion) in:

    - Fast Fit by Sandra Betzina, pp. 30-31 ("Knit Patterns in Woven Fabric"),

    - Patternmaking for Fashion Design by Helen Joseph-Armstrong, pp. 613-614,

    and online on http://www.leenas.com/English/scaling.html.

If you find anything else, please let me know.

    Lise-Laure
