old sewing machine

TurtleBoy | Posted in General Discussion on

Hello all,

I’m looking for advice on an old sewing machine that I got from my mother. I’d like to get it updated with a new cord as well as getting it tuned up. I know nothing about these machines and would like to know if any of you have used a VISETTI. It is in a wooden cabinet/table. Are these machines any good and are they worth having any work done to them?

Also I’d like to know if there is a place that you can get reconditioned PFAFF, HUSQVARNA, OR VIKING sewing machines?

Thanks in advance turtleboy

    Hi -

I think for a used machine, check the dealerships for the Viking etc.  I know my Bernina Dealer has machines traded in he then sells (NC)

there is a shop in Claremont CA that not only has reconditioned machines, but on New Years Day they are selling non tested tradeins for $50 -

A friend of mine form Ct just bought a machine on ebay for about 250 - 1/4 original cost and the seller is highly rated!

    so good luck!

if you Mom's old machine is like one I had, it was a dept store brand but the Bernina dealer recognized it as a Riccar and had no problem tuning it up. Lots of luck
