Old Sewing Machine

Pamaner | Posted in Sewing Machines & Sergers on

I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.  I have an old (over 50 years) New Home machine which belonged to my mother.  It is in a cabinet and has not been used for many years.  The last time it was in regular use it worked fine.  I’m in the process of unloading things (does any one person reallllly need 6 sewing machines?) and have someone who would like this machine.  When I opened it to clean it up a bit I discovered that the metal throat plate is missing.  I haven’t a clue as to where it might be.  Can anyone suggest where I might begin to look for a replacement for it?  Thanks in advance!

Begin with eBay, or even start with sewingpartsonline.com. Once you begin the search you no doubt will find all kinds of resources. You’ll need your make and model... so have that handy.
If you’ve not sewn with this machine in a long time or ever, you’ll want to do that first. Maintenance on these older machines is simple and the basic stitches are usually wonderful! You have a treasure.
