OK, I just spent a few days making some shorts, with the intention of using the same altered pattern to make pants as well. I can’t figure out why I get this pucker at the center 
of the butt. Does anyone know what I can do to alter the pattern for a better fit on the next pair?

Try basting out a wider seam, tapering out where there is no puckering.
