Pin cushions

sweetrsyl | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

Does anybody have a source for the emery dust that can be found in the “strawberry” attached to old style pin cushions?  I’d like to make some pin cushions filled with emery dust, so as to keep needles and pins sharpened; so I only need small amounts.  Thanks!

Emery dust is sometimes available at hardware stores -  Especially the old fashioned type of hardware store.

Emery dust in different grades is used in rock polishing so you might try looking along those lines. Maybe even a kids learning store?

My favorite pincushion is emery but after 10 years of use I may be on the hunt soon myself!!

Thanks -  that's a great idea!  Hadn't thought of it.  I'll let you know what I discover.

Don't know what level of fineness to buy, but you can buy enough here to make pincushions for all your sewing friends...forever.http://www.bright-works.com/store/html/setups.html
