looking to buy a new machine for the first time in 30 years. Want to do basic repairs, would like to do blind hems, and finish edges on polarfleece, stetch fabrics, etc. Also, have a granddaughter who would like some doll clothes. Because of vision problems cannot spend a lot of time sewing and do not expect to ever get into quilting and embroidery. Keeping cost down is important. Do I stick with Singer, Kenmore which I have used in the past, or venture out? Are the low cost Brother machines at Costco, Target worth getting? Appreciate advice

I have a elna and a little jem and i like them both because they have needle threaders that was important saves time and a noyher thing go to the state fairs and have them demonstrated Isay this is because then you can see a lot of different ones at a time and then make a choice or you take there price back to your local sewing machine dealer and see if they can do better
Hi there...
My thread "online sewing machine reviews?" has my answer included on what I finally bought and why. It helped me greatly to read several reviews. I love the machine I bought. I've put together a couple of projects now and it's really smooth and easier than anything I've used in the past. The autothreader is a dream!!
Good luck!
Lynn
This has been brought up on several discussions on this site lately. Another site that has information about SMs is patternreview.com. There are SM reviews that you can read and you can search for specific models.
