too pointy darts

stitchintime | Posted in Fitting on

I am making a top from an old Burda pattern and the bust darts came out too pointy for my liking. I’d like a more rounded effect. I didn’t notice it so much on the muslin but it’s a little too obvious on the woven fabric I tried where one of the threads in the weave is metallic. Any suggestions on how to fix this or is the fabric not appropriate for the pattern? It’s leftover fabric from a skirt I made my daughter so I can throw it out but I’ve put a lot of effort into getting it to fit properly.

I appreciate anybody’s help.

I just scrolled down and saw the discussion from July 4 on darts. I will try making the dart much shorter and see if that helps. The problem with Burda patterns, unlike American ones, is that the center part of the dart is cut out ( I guess to remove bulk) which leaves less room to play with.

So ignore this new post and I will join the previous darts discussion.
