This is such an easy project to make, and it makes a great gift! I love to use this project as a way to introduce students to their sewing machines and make something that they can take home with them and use right away.
What you’ll need:
1 bath size towel. The one I used for this example measures 28 inches X 52 inches, which works well for an average size 14, 5-foot, 6-inch tall woman. You can use a different size towel if needed. I also prefer to use cheaper toweling. This is the one time I recommend lighter-weight towels for your bath and spa pleasure!
1/2 yard of 1-inch-wide Velcro. Make sure you use the non-adhesive kind.
Thread to match your towel.
Making Your Wrap
It’s as easy as 1-2-3, um, -4!
1. Cut your Velcro to 15 inches in length.
All you need to start this project is a bath towel, velcro, and some thread.
2. Pin the hook side (this is the rougher side) of your Velcro to the upper left corner of your towel. On the reverse side of your towel, pin the loop side of the Velcro, along the same edge, as shown in the photo below:
Pin the velcro strips to your towel.
3. Using a straight or zigzag stitch, stitch around all sides of both Velcro lengths, as shown:
Stitch all the way around each Velcro strip. I prefer to use a zigzag stitch to attach the velcro.
4. Position the towel on you as shown and simply press the Velcro strips together, as shown here. Tip: press the Velcro strips together when you launder the wrap, to prevent the Velcro from getting linty.
In minutes, you’ve made a spa wrap that’s perfect for home, travel or dorm!
