Help with Bernina foot pedal, please!

maggiejorn | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I bought a used Bernia Nova 900 for my adult daughter, got it cleaned and adjusted.  There is a problem with the foot pedal in that it only goes one speed….very fast!  Has anyone had this problem before with this pedal?  It’s the round disk-shaped pedal.  Other than that, it’s a great machine, so I want it to work for her.  Suggestions, please!  Thank you so much!

Is this pedal spring loaded and higher on one side than the other. Have you checked to see if they (repair shop) could put a different one on for you? I had a new pedal installed on my old kenmore (some what the same design as a gas pedal) and it was a pain. One speed like you said. I use to turn it around to use, but finally got really tired of it and had another one installed at a different repair shop. If one repair shop can't do it take it to another one. I think I paid about 20.00 for a new one.

Berninas are not in "my realm of expertise," but I do know that there have been some controller problems with certain models, and I don't believe they can use generic replacements.

You can find some very knowledgeable people to ask at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bonosberninas/
