Hiding stitches?

lindsey422 | Posted in Fitting on

I made this dress:

and i have quite a sizely bust. The rest of the dress fits fine, but i need to make the two bust pieces lay flat against each other for coverage. how would you suggest doing that without having stitches showing?

    Hi Linsey!

That is a gorgeous dress - and probably very flattering!

I hear you about wanting to keep the overlap in place, too. The bodice pieces are lined, yes? Or at least have facings? If so, you could very carefully (so you don't catch your bra in the pinning!) pin them together so that the lay the way you want them, the use a hand-stitching technique of your choice to sew the underlap to the lining/facing only of the overlap, very close to the edge.

Don't pull the stitches tight, and keep them fairly small, so that there's no visible pull, either. That *oughta* do what you want.

~ Can we see photos, too, when you get it done?

I love, love, love that dress and agree with Kharmin on how to get done what you need.  Best of luck, and yes, please do let us see the results.
