Sloper/Fitting Shell Question

EMILEE69 | Posted in Fitting on

I am considering making myself a fitting shell/sloper for the first time, after more than twenty years of sewing.  However, I’m not certain just how it would be used once it was made.  How does this help with altering commercial patterns?  How exactly is it used?

Thanks for your insights.

Yes using a fitting sloper will help you in fitting or altering commercial patterns. It will also take care of all those pesky problems like sleeves that are too tight.  Also you will know before you ever think about laying out the pattern on your fashion fabric whether you will need to take in the waist line or the bust or add or subtract for uneven shoulders ect.  After perfecting your sloper you then will know how and where to alter your patterns every time.
