The “Girls”!

GailAnn | Posted in Fitting on

Saturday morning my sister took me to the most marvolous store — Intimate Designs!  1520 E. 23rd. Street.  Independence, MO 64055

Worth the trip!

They have trained bra-fitters who know what they are doing!  Imagine!

They carry a selection of bras that actually fit my my 44G figure!  Lift, separate, no squashing, no flesh tucked beneath my arms, stashed in my cleavage, or pushed around to the back.  The weight of the breast is carried on the frame of the bra, so no pressure points on my shoulders.  The “girls” are up and out-front where they belong!

I feel and look (according to my husband) a good 10 pounds thinner!

Best of all, I came home and tried on the “button down the front” blouses in my closet, not one gapped open in the front!  Amazing!

Intimate Designs does bra alterations, if needed, at purchase and even later if the bra stretches out or you lose weight.

When Sis was trying to talk me into going, I back peddled, pleading that I couldn’t afford $100 a bra.  No need to worry.  Most bras are no where near that.  I ended up buying 3 and ordering 1 more in a colour they didn’t have in stock.  They promised to deliver it to my house in 7 days or less.

F.Y.I. for those of you who are concerned about such things……..The bras that I bought were assembled in the Dominican Republic of U.S. materials.

Intimate designs carries every size, down to a 28A-.  They carry nursing bras and in fact, many times that is how they have built thier clientelle.  Ladies come in to be fitted while nursing, and then get refitted, after the ‘snack shop’ is closed.  They also have swimming suits with bras sewn inside, longlines, corsets, panties, slips, and sleepwear.

Rave Review!

I read your post with great interest.  I don't wear the size you do but have heavy boobs that drag me down.  I would love to find something that supports with the frame rather than my poor old shoulders.  Do these people have stores in any other major cities or even a website???  Info appreciated...............tia

But I'm not really sure how a person could be properly fitted on line.  Gail

I took a class in Oct about supporting the bust. It was an eye opener when the instructor made a few alterations to the fit of bras or other structures providing support in the garment. A well fitted support really did make a difference in the appearance of several of the ladies in the group. Like you said, it took 10lbs or more off their appearance. It was also a very creative class on how to provide the proper support inside dresses where a normal bra won't work.personally I'm quite small busted and wear a padded bra, but they never fit right. Buying a bra is a lot like shoes, even if you are 'measured & fit' by a trained bra fitter, you still just need to try them on and find one that is comfortable. So I try on many different sizes and buy what I think is best.I finally made a few alterations to mine - the band was too large, so I actually removed the hook and eye parts and shortened the band 1 1/2 inches - fits much better now! what a difference to have a bra that stays put!

What a great class!  I would love to be able to put enough PROPER innerconstruction in my bodices to not need to wear a bra.  Or wear a strapless that really fits and holds, with such comfort that I don't notice it is there.  Gail
