My grandson wanted to be Superman for Halloween and I couldn’t find a decent pattern to make the costume so I decided to design and make the costume myself. I fashioned the main body parts after the vintage style pajamas that had snaps and feet in them. I of course didnt include the snaps or feet, I used tshirt knit for the shirt, pants, and belt. The “S” superman emblem was an iron on that I had gotten on line, I ironed that into a seperate piece of fabric and appliqués it onto the shirt. The “S” that is on the belt was one that I digitized using embroidery software, then I embroidered that onto the belt. The cape is made of a “fashion” fabric that is a sort of plastic feeling fabric on one side. That was pretty easy, it’s basically a large half circle, I added a small collar and snap to the cape. For the “pants” that go over the long pants, I used a pair of my grandsons underwear to fashion the pattern for the short type pants and Also to measure for proper size. I had a lot of fun making this costume. My Grandson had a lot of fun wearing it!
