If you could look out of our windows here at Threads today you’d see a rainy, crisp autumn day. The type of day that is simply perfect for curling up in comfy, cozy pajamas with a good book (a sewing book of course). Don’t have those perfect PJs? Well then check out these new sleepwear patterns from various companies. From cute nighties to comfy fleece pants and tops, you’re sure to find a set you like.
Clotilde now distributes sleepwear patterns by Jan Bones. The Nice Nightie is an elegant nightgown. It has strategically located fullness under the bust and a wide skirt to conceal a fuller tummy and hips. The snug, fitted bodice has a lace V-neckline. The Shelf Bra Camisole pattern is listed as easy-to-make and suggests using two-way stretch fabric. The Ladies PJ/Yoga Pants pattern is appropriate for knits or wovens (however the waistband requires a knit). Make these pants to sit at your waist or low-rise and choose from three length variations—knee, calf, or ankle. Top off your sleepwear outfit with a cozy and stylish Kimono wrap. Two-way stretch fabric is recommended.
Butterick pattern 5667 is a new See & Sew sleepwear ensemble pattern. The top has a wide neckline with gathers at center front and long sleeves. Choose from two lengths—a nightgown or a hip length top to pair with the included elastic waist pants. Recommended fabrics include flannel or stable knits.
Kwik Sew pattern 3926 is a fun way to use up your fabric stash. Using fat quarters and similarly sized pieces make fun and cozy slippers for you and your family. Suggested fabrics include cotton, flannel, fleece, and Minky.
McCall’s pattern 6474 is an easy to sew pajama group with a simple no-fuss design. Using moderate stretch knit fabrics make a top, tunic, or nightgown with long or short sleeves or sleeveless. Pair with the Capri or full-length cozy pants. Also from McCall’s is pattern 6475, a one-piece PJ. These jumpsuit style pajamas are very popular for fun holiday gifts. Pair with the included slippers.
Simplicity pattern 1951 is from a new, young designer, Sara Trail. This pattern includes two cute tanks, shorts, pants with an ankle drawstring, and a three-quarter-length sleeve kimono. Available in misses’ and girls’ sizes, this is a great pattern for a “mommy and me” matching set.
Pajama sets make great holiday gifts. Are you making sleepwear this season?
